Battling stereotypes of different women in the U.S

Choose the best terms you think would go accurately for the description.

A poor, single mother of five who lives in a housing project complex and feeds her family using food stamps.
A rich suburban wife, mother of two with a husband who makes over six figures annually.
A thin twenty-one year old Harvard law graduate with a background of strong family values and are obedient to her parents and elders.
An illegal immigrant who is low-income and have to depend on financial aid to pay for all her classes and books.

A)           A woman of Asian descent, for ex. East Asian Chinese or South Asian Indian
B)            A woman of Hispanic/Latina decent for ex. South America, Latin Caribbean Islands or Central America
C)            A woman of African descent for ex. African Americans from U.S 1900’s history
D)           A woman of European descent for ex. Caucasians
E)            Any of these women can be from various educational backgrounds, social class and socioeconomic status
Define the key term words:
Social class
Socioeconomic status
Stereotypes
Preconceived notions
Bigot
Opinion

Determine what socioeconomic status you might be a part of and explain how being in such a category can hinder your progress of a better life for you and your family. Also, explain what the five remainder key terms have in common when a person of a minority group try to prosper in such conditions.
How does perceptions influence the way we speak, act, think and treat others? How do we battle preconceived notions?

Questions to ask yourself this week:
Do you want to lead?
What do you want to lead in?
Why do you want to lead or why not?
Who is your audience? And how do you make them influence them to listen to you?
Why would someone completely different (religion, culture, ethnicity, nationality) from you listen/value your opinions if they already have a stereotype image of you in their minds’? And can we change how other’s perceive us? Yes we can! By the way we speak, our body language, what we say and how we say it, the way we get our point across and how we react to events in our daily lives.
