What is the solution to crime? Which theory of punishment best justifies the infliction of punishment by the State upon the individual?

It would be nice to live in a utopian society where there is absolutely no crime, no greedy corrupt governments and no angry emotions that leads to crime and hatred on fellow humans. In the past there have been ancient civilizations who have achieved these status quos and lived happy healthy lives in a huge community of neighbors and loved ones…. And then some other tribe from across the forest would come charging in killing the men, raping the women and using the children as work and sex slaves. Everywhere in humanity, across all the seas and oceans in every demographic and every culture this has happened. One thing I will admit is that forfeiture theory seems to be the best theory when it comes to consequences of breaking the law.

I believe humans are a violent species of animals that will continue to harm the weaker frailer members of our society. But I also believe there are a few solutions to crime; the rest of the solutions I do not know. First being to educate the citizens of the country in areas such as academics and life skills. Yes, wealthy educated people do commit crazy looney crimes. And yes those same people may have all the opportunities in the world and yet they still hurt and manipulate people and their families.

But financial stability definitely play a big part in why richer people commit less crime than poverty stricken people. Rich people do not go out and rob liquor stores-poor people do. Poverty and crime are correlated topics for a lot of good reasons and so is wealth with education. To be more specific academic education. When you’re enlightened (which is a usual end result of being academically educated) you are in an elevated state of mind that can be more in tune with an enhanced morality. You aren't poor in mind nor knowledge which leads to a college educated future, less crime, a better job and career choice, and more money.

The same thinking applies to life skills. Whenever people are able to cope better with the everyday stressors of life they are well adjusted and informed to make decisions that are sounder for their futures. There are less impulsive reactions and more proactive reasoning to whatever stressful surrounding they may face. Another possible solution is efficient child-rearing techniques. I have no doubt in my mind that some people are born to be evil while others acquire evil tendencies through human interaction.

For the latter, I presume there is some type of way to help these lot before they become future inmates and criminals. I believe adamantly that children need love, attention and guidance in order to be fully functioning rational members of society. In order for parents and guardians to raise future members of society they need to know the basics when it comes to children’s needs in the home and in the classroom settings. The abuse of children-emotionally, verbally, physically and sexually- have shown that the humanity of these kids seem to erode over time.  Much of the needed emotional connections that children are nurtured to respond to in childhood and adolescence are disrupted.

In many cases causing the children to act out in habits that are detrimental to society as a whole. In this case, these children end up being young adults and older people who commit criminal offences of the law. An additional precaution should be to screen individual minors for mental health issues who have shown odd behaviors and frame of thoughts or who have had risky behaviors in the past. Mental health play a tremendous factor in whether or not something is seriously wrong with a person’s psyche. And if an issue of mental health may arise, therapist and psychologist can predetermine a series of events the troubled child might act out.

I do not know if these solutions will in fact be the SOLUTIONS that change and affect society’s crime rate. But what I do know is that we need to start trying out smart solutions in order to make our lives better for not just ourselves but for our children as well. In order for us, the citizens of the world, to achieve the goal of having lesser crimes we need to learn how to love and understand each other’s differences.

The understanding of each other’s differences will help whenever there’s a discussion of opposing theologies or paradigms. For many years the United States of America have been referred to as, “A Cultural Melting pot”. In this “melting pot” we need to respect others’ cultures, sexual orientation and religions to uphold what we claim is important, the safety of all our citizens. We can’t do it without each other, the best solution of all is us. We are the solution into ending crimes of all kind in our society.
